Mrs. Amy Purk's Fifth Grade Class
It's back-to-school and I am looking forward to seeing you at the Intermediate building. I am excited to be teaching fifth grade math and science this year. My prior eight years at Reeds Spring were spent in first and sixth grade. This year our class will rotate with Mr. Dilliner, who will be teaching Communication Arts and Social Studies.
My husband, Michael, and I enjoy outside activities like gardening and the lake, and we also like to make and build things. We have three children, two adult sons, and a daughter who just left for college. With three children of my own, I really do understand that each child has different needs, so please share with me anything that helps your child succeed or cope. It's very helpful to have family tips, as you know so much about your student. Most importantly, please contact me anytime you have a question or just want to discuss something. Email is my best form of communication - email@example.com.
My goal is to teach your child to be as self sufficient as possible, to take responsibility for getting a good education, and to show kindness to everyone. Learning can be fun, as well as challenging when a student's goal is clear and the path to achievement is interesting, flexible, and collaborative. While I can't promise you that your child will be volunteering to do the dishes (I know, some do), I can promise that I will work for you and your child to make fifth grade a successful and memorable year.
See you soon :)
