1:1 Pedagogy Statement
I believe that mathematics and technology go hand in hand. With that being said, mathematics and teaching in general will require different thought and approach than before. It will require a balance of direct instruction with exploration and inquiry. I believe that by effectively integrating technology as a resource into my classroom, it will allow my students to experience mathematics in a more individualized and engaging way.
I will utilize technology to ensure that my students are learning in a way that best fits their needs through the use of virtual lessons, explorations, online tutorials and peer collaboration. I will also provide my students opportunities to demonstrate their learning and comprehension at higher levels.
My students will become more effective problem solvers by making mathematical and “authentic” real-world connections using technology. My students will implement and initiate the use of reliable resources to make mathematical content more dynamically engaging, relevant and applicable, and further their individual learning through curiosity and inquiry. Students will also be able to collaborate and communicate with their peers to make further connections in their learning.
