RSIS Receives Literacy Grant

Improving student reading skills is a goal for the staff at Reeds Spring Intermediate School. Teachers will soon have some help reaching that goal thanks to a $2,000 grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.

Sixth-grade teacher Dr. Thomas O’Connor applied for the grant. He said the money will be used to buy reading materials that can be used by both fifth and sixth-grade classes.

"This grant will provide us with more authentic learning materials, differentiated instruction, and will support our literature discussion groups in class," O'Connor said.
