RSIS Starting Honor Choir

The Reeds Spring School District is proud to announce that we will offer a new opportunity to 5th and 6th-grade students to join an after school Honor Choir directed by Darci Bilberry and Melanie Clevenger. The choir will meet every Thursday from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in the music room at the Intermediate School starting in the month of October.

Our desire is to help students enhance their musical talents and work together as a team with other choir members for fun and engaging performances.  Students will also be given the opportunity to help in the selection of pieces they would like to perform.

During the first semester, we will be putting together a mini-musical that will be performed for parents and the community in addition to some of our schools. During the second semester, we will begin to work on song selections that interest the students and desire to have performances in our community so we can share our talents with others.

Because space is limited, the choir will be open to 25 students. Selection for choir members will be based on an application. Students who are respectful, have a strong passion for music, are willing to work together as a team, can commit to regular rehearsal attendance, and are willing to work hard will be given first priority in membership.

A letter of recommendation is encouraged, but not required. In addition, all choir members must be willing to sign a contract to show their commitment.

All applications are due in the front office by September 25. You will be notified about your child’s placement by letter shortly thereafter. Member selection will also be posted on the door of the music room on Wednesday, October 2. The first rehearsal will begin on October 10.
